Become Precise

By Pierce Jones –

Baseball is known to have ups and downs throughout the season that can take a toll on us mentally, or make it seem like everything you try to do just does not add up to provide the rhythm you are looking for. This is where becoming precise can play a very beneficial role in your game and help you get into that groove much easier.

Unfortunately, where athletes often fail (especially at a younger age) is when they do not have a set routine that they like to follow or do not know how to create one. It is oftentimes much easier to follow the herd of your team and do what everyone else is doing because it seems to work for some and is just “enough”. When taking a closer look at ELITE professional athletes from all major sports, you will find that each individual has their own style of preparation, and it is very precise and consistent. With that being said, I believe that there is no right or wrong way to go about this. These professionals have perfected what is their “touch” on their warm-up that helps them feel ready and takes all the stress and worry away from each game when preparing. The last thing you want to do when arriving for your game is sit there in frustration, or worry about how to get ready and what needs to be done for you to become locked in.

I encourage everyone that is wanting to become a truly elite athlete to sit down and map out exactly how your day looks on game days. What does your preparation currently look like and how can it be changed to fit you individually? How does it become something that you are precise and consistent with, just like the elites? If you are able to go to each game knowing exactly what you are getting yourself into from square one, then I find that you are already putting yourself at an advantage compared to those around you and taking away unnecessary stress.

Find the Max Scherzer’s, Steph Curry’s, and Tiger Woods’s of the world, and watch and study them prior to a game/event. I truly believe doing so will leave clues showing you why they are some of the best ever, and how precision can change your game.
