Transitioning from Summer to Fall

By Isaiah Trevino –

With the summer wrapping up and training at the Texas Baseball Ranch coming to a brief halt, it’s important to ask yourself how I can transfer my training into this upcoming fall. The easiest thing to do would be to go back to your old ways and not train like you did in the summer. Of course some things are going to change, as you’re going to be playing more games (especially if you are in college) but that doesn’t mean that your training has to take a big hit.

It’s important to still sustain the gains that you made in velocity, arm health, command, and overall mechanical efficiency. For those who trained at the Ranch for multiple weeks in the summer it may take some adjusting to wherever you go back to school since you won’t be around the same environment that you were here at the Ranch. I urge you to try to re-create that environment, whether it’s just mentally or actually re-creating it somehow back at your school. Be sure to still be training with intensity, still being smart with your training and continuing to do the things that allowed you to make jumps in the summer. Make it a conscious effort to remain consistent with using connection tools, constantly working on command and training to be explosive, as we head into the fall.

Having a plan moving forward for this fall and into 2024 is very big. With a plan you can follow, adjust and most importantly, execute. For those that train here in the summer, they leave with a detailed and personalized plan but even if you didn’t visit us this summer, there should be no reason not to have a plan moving forward. This could be your reminder to get one created.

Whether it’s just practice or practicing an inner squads you need to find some time to put that same work/ effort in that got you to where you are now. The next coming months are still an opportunity to get better. So I hope all of you harness that opportunity and get even just a little bit better every day during the fall semester.
