Fast-paced Fall

By Pierce Jones –

As we move into the fall season, it can be a rather busy time for most, as school has started again. After-school events and other extracurricular activities outside of sports are more prominent, which can lead to a stressful schedule for some. For this blog, I wanted to shed a little light on some key points that you can apply to your life during this busy time of year.

Set Clear Priorities:

This one can be very specific to those who play two sports in the fall, as time can feel like it slips away from you quickly. Listing out or having these priorities set in your mind can automatically help keep you ahead of the game and ensure that you don’t feel like you are losing a grip on everything going on around you.

Create A Schedule:

Prioritize your time effectively. Use tools like calendars, planners, or your phone to keep track of your commitments and ensure you allocate sufficient time to all of your obligations. Always pick out a day of the week (I typically like Sunday nights) to develop a detailed schedule that includes schoolwork, practice times, game days, and all other activities.

Stay Organized:

Ultimately, this is to help you avoid last-minute rushes and ensure you’re always prepared. Try to have everything in order the night before you tackle the next day’s plans.

Optimize Recovery:

Recovery is crucial in preventing injuries. Making sure you get enough sleep while eating appropriately and utilizing recovery days when needed can play such a significant role in your development.

Set Goals:

Both short-term and long-term goals can be crucial throughout any sport/school year in order to stay on track and motivated. There is nothing worse than essentially feeling like you are “going through the motions” in hopes that something happens. With your goals in mind, you will continue to push yourself and be more consistent.

Evaluate And Adjust:

Periodically assess your schedule, commitments, and goals. If you find that you are feeling overwhelmed or are not adapting well, don’t be afraid to adjust as needed. You want to make sure you can enjoy the journey you are on and not feel like it is a chore. Being able to evaluate and adjust at times can be crucial for one to continue on the right path to success and continue to see the results they would like through such busy times.
