Who?

By Coach Flint Wallace-

I believe the most important question you can ever ask yourself is, “who?”

Who am I going to choose as my friends?

Who am I going to choose to be a mentor to me?

Who am I going to follow?

Who am I going to lead?

Who am I going to look up to?

Who am I going to date?

Who am I going to spend my time with?

And the list can go on and on, but I think you get the gist of what I mean by ‘who.’ I often make the statement to our clients that, “success leaves clues”. Then I go on to say statements like, “if you want to be rich, find the richest people you can, and do what they do. If you want to be smart, find the smartest people you can, and do what they do. If you want to be a great pitcher, find the best pitchers you can, and do what they do.” The point is to seek out the type of people that are the most similar to who you want to become and do what they do.

Jim John, one of America’s foremost business philosophers, has a saying, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

So, make sure the people you are spending the most time with are people that are influencing you to become who you want to be. Don’t hang out with someone that could be leading you down a different path than the one you have envisioned. Make sure your inner circle of people are on your side. Choose to spend time with people that will make you become a better you. People that will challenge you. People that have your best interests in mind.

Always remember, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17.

So always keep asking yourself, “who?” Because that question will ultimately help determine who you are.

Until next time, keep getting after it!!!
