Building a Baseball Legacy: The Second Generation Arrives

By Jill E. Wolforth –

Over the past nine months, something remarkable has happened at The Texas Baseball Ranch®. We have officially welcomed the second generation of Ranch athletes. Yes, you read that right—the sons of former Ranch athletes are now making their way through our doors, eager to embark on their own journeys of growth, development, and high-level performance.

It’s a moment that gives us pause. Does this mean we’re old? Or perhaps we actually know what we’re doing?

With humility, I would like to say it’s both.

We’ve had the privilege of working with young players from across the country for over two decades, and it’s always been our goal to impact lives far beyond the baseball field. That’s what makes The Ranch different. It’s not just a training facility—it’s a family. The work we do here isn’t just about throwing harder or developing better mechanics.

It’s about growth.

It’s about resilience.

And it’s about preparing young athletes for challenges far beyond the game of baseball or softball.

In the past nine months, we’ve welcomed the following second generation athletes:

  • Nash Barrineau, son of John Barrineau:

  • Ethan Page, son Julie Lindner (not pictured)

  • Beau Connell, son of Joe Connell

  • Noah Brunasso, son of Scott Brunasso

Each of these families has a history with The Ranch, and now, the next generation is carrying on the tradition. It’s both humbling and exciting to see young athletes following in their parents’ footsteps, showing the same enthusiasm, and embracing the same commitment to excellence.

For years, we’ve talked about the idea of The Ranch Family. It’s not just a phrase—it’s a reality. When an athlete trains with us, they aren’t just another number. They are part of something bigger. They build relationships that last a lifetime, both with our staff and with fellow Ranch athletes. The proof of that reality is staring us in the face as we watch the second generation of athletes pick up where their parents left off.

If the past 20+ years have taught us anything, it’s that the impact of The Ranch extends far beyond an athlete’s playing days. The lessons, the mindset, and the grit stay with them long after they’ve thrown their last pitch. To see these former athletes returning with their sons is a validation of everything we’ve worked to build.

So yes, we may be getting older, but more importantly, we believe we’re doing something right and we can wait to see what’s next.  Third generation perhaps?

To the second-generation Ranch athletes—welcome home. We’re excited to be part of your journey, just as we were for your parents.

And for those who have yet to experience The Ranch for the first time—what are you waiting for? If you’re looking for a place that is more than just training, a place that challenges you, supports you, and helps you grow both on and off the field, then we invite you to become part of The Ranch Family. We’d love to help you on your journey.
