Repair Your Nets

By Flint Wallace-

I saw this quote the other day that is extremely applicable to our present situation, not just with baseball, but with life in general:

“When fishermen can’t go to sea, they repair their nets.” – Nabil Sabio Azadi

Right now, we can’t play, coach, or even watch the game that we love. We have been thrown a nasty curve in our season so to speak, and in our lives as well.

As I see it, you have two choices: 1. You can sit around feeling sorry for yourself and binge watch shows on Netflix -or- 2. You can figure out what you need to improve on and go to work on those things.

You might need to work on creating more connected arm action to improve arm health, or you might need to create better synergy between your upper and lower half.

Maybe you need to work on getting to a more efficient and effective Glute Load, or work on keeping your front leg internally rotated longer.

It might be your command, velocity, or creating a better breaking ball, or you may need to get better at controlling the running game (holding runners and being quicker to the plate) or enhance your ability to field your position.

Maybe it is getting more mobile or stronger.

Whatever it is, this is the time that you can make real progress. This is an opportunity for you to get in some extra training that was not in your normal schedule.

This is a chance for you to be better when we do get to resume playing again, a chance for you to continue to separate yourself from the herd and improve and grow.

So spend a little time examining your nets so to speak, and figure out what areas you need to enhance and start repairing.

Until Next Time… Keep Getting After It!

Important TBR Updates

  • With the cancellation of the college baseball season and most high school seasons, and with summer playing schedules still in limbo, we have added a couple additional events to our calendar to assist athletes with skill improvement.  First, we have an Advanced College Training Session scheduled for May 15-17.  The group will be limited to 32 athletes.  Second, we have added an Elite Pitchers Boot Camp over the Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25. For more information, please visit www.TexasBaseballRanch.com/events
  • The COVID-19 virus has impacted nearly every facet of our society. In short, the world is a very different place than it was on January 1st, 2020 and that includes the Texas Baseball Ranch®. In order to limit the number of parents and athletes attending our Elite Pitchers Boot Camps, we are currently reducing the camp enrollment from 45 athletes to 24 athletes. This change will stay in effect until the national requirements/guidelines have been updated. We are also loosening up our cancellation/change policy so that people can be comfortable in making plans now in the face of current & future uncertainty.
  • In addition, we have added a “Ranch Remote” training option for people that would still like to get access to, and ongoing instruction from, the TBR staff but prefer to avoid travel due to the virus. Click here to get more information on this NEW, hyper-personalized training option.  The number of participants in this program is limited to 36 so if you’re interested, don’t delay.

Please call (936)588-6762 or email us: info@texasbaseballranch.com
for more details or to sign up for any of these options.
