Everyone is Welcome at The Ranch!

By Jill E. Wolforth –

We’ve all had it happen to a us, a moment that occurs, often out of the blue, that just makes us smile. I had one of those moments a few weeks ago during our Extended Stay Summer Development Program.

For those not familiar with the program, young men travel from all over the country to train at the Texas Baseball Ranch® anywhere from 2-10 weeks.  We’ve had at least 45 athletes each week this summer and several weeks were sold out at 60 guys.

I am so very proud of our coaching staff including our amazing interns and the incredible job they do in training the young men in our care.  They work extra hard to make sure that each athlete is getting the work he personally needs whether that’s velocity, command, arm health, secondary pitches, strength, mindset or some combination of these areas.

That being said, the staff is expected to do a good job.  It’s why people are here.   They expect the best training and coaching the Ranch has to offer.  It’s why many travel thousands of miles, working out in the Texas Heat for several hours a day and then turn around and do it again the next year.

Yes, the training is fantastic but what many people on the outside don’t see is that the culture is just as special and has a huge impact on the success of the program.  The following picture captured one special moment that epitomized this and the moment that made me smile:

Here you have two young men, 10 years apart in age, working side by side during a morning workout, with the older one mentoring the younger one.  It truly is special.  Second-year intern, Eric LaRue brilliantly summarized it with the caption “Everyone is welcome at The Ranch”.  I couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Important TBR Updates

  • One of the things we do exceptionally well with our Extended Stay Summer Program at The Texas Baseball Ranch is to help young men map out a plan for progress and help them to stay on track.  If you or someone you know would like to join us at The Ranch this summer, please check out the program at www.TexasBaseballRanch.com/events. P.S. There are only 2 weeks left!

  • Spots for our Elite Pitchers Bootcamps for the Summer are sold out. Call the office to be placed on our waitlist. Our Fall and Winter dates are available online as well as our Youth Elite Pitchers Boot Camp date! Watch your email or check our website for updates https://www.texasbaseballranch.com/events/

  • Athletes continue to be excited our “Ranch Remote” training. It’s a program for people that would still like to get access to, and ongoing instruction from, the TBR staff but prefer to avoid travel due to the virus or other limitations. Click here to get more information on this NEW, hyper-personalized training option. Space is limited in this program and we only have a few spots open currently so if you’re interested, don’t delay.
