Built by Passion, Fueled by Purpose

By Carson Ellis –

My name is Carson Ellis, and I’m proud to be beginning a new chapter as a pitching coach at the Texas Baseball Ranch®—a place where cutting-edge development meets a deep respect for the game. For me, coaching isn’t just about helping athletes throw harder or play longer; it’s about building trust, refining movement patterns, managing arm pain proactively, and guiding players toward sustainable success—on and off the field.

Baseball has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. But more than just a game, it’s become a vehicle for purpose—a way for me to help athletes play this sport they love for as long as possible, and to do it the right way.

That’s my passion.

Whether it’s guiding a young pitcher through better movement patterns, helping someone navigate arm pain, or supporting the mental side of the game, I’m here for the long haul—just like I want these players to be.

My drive comes from watching my dad, a logger in Northern California, get up at 2:00 am every day and work harder than anyone I know to provide for our family. He taught me what dedication and perseverance really look like, and that foundation has carried me through every phase of my own career.

I grew up in Northern California and played my junior college ball at Butte College, where I was fortunate to learn from head coach Anthony Ferro and assistant coach Jacob Angelo—two individuals who shaped both my game and my character. After Butte, I transferred across the country to Salem University in West Virginia to finish my playing career. That journey, both geographically and personally, taught me a lot about resilience, discipline, and leadership.

While I studied math and education, I realized my heart was still deeply tied to the field—not just as a player, but as a mentor and teacher. That led me to become the head baseball coach at Los Molinos High School in California, where I spent two incredible years working with young athletes and building a program.

Eventually, I made the move down to College Station, Texas, to be closer to the Texas Baseball Ranch®, where I’d been fortunate enough to be involved throughout the year. Being nearby allowed me to work even more closely with The Ranch staff and athletes. It also opened the door for me to coach some Texas high school football and serve as the pitching coach at College Station High School.

Now, as I step into this full-time role at the Texas Baseball Ranch®, I couldn’t be more grateful—not just for the opportunity, but for the path that brought me here. Every athlete I’ve coached, every mile I’ve traveled, and every lesson I’ve learned along the way have been part of this story.

As I take on this role at The Ranch, I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned into an environment that’s built around innovation, individualization, and a deep care for each athlete’s journey. I’m here to listen, to teach, and to grow alongside the players I work with—and I can’t wait to see what the road ahead holds.

Thanks for reading, and I’ll be sharing more as the journey continues.
